All customers and lines have been moved to the new system, faxing is online.
We will continue to address specific desk-set requests on an as-needed basis but the essential functions are all in place. Will continue to monitor closely for issues.

Half of desk set extensions are now fully functional and all lines are now receiving voicemail that is then forwarded to the appropriate email box.
The remaining desk sets will be coming online soon and FAX lines will also be addressed.
911 service in the CRC building is fully restored and calls are routed to the correct dispatch center.

Some extensions are receiving inbound calls and have new voicemail boxes set up. Work continues to get the remaining lines ready and sort out some irregularities in accessing and leaving messages.

Work continues on the transition. Many voicemail boxes have been created and the first steps to accepting inbound calls back at CRC extensions have been completed.

Work continues on the replacement system. Today, preparations for creating voicemail boxes for all lines will be completed and configuration for directly receiving calls to the new system will be made.
Work will also continue on adapting some of the existing desk telephones to the new system.

This afternoon, OIT staff brought a replacement phone system online at the CRC. About half of desk telephones have been swapped for new hardware and can now place calls to and receive calls from Potsdam campus telephone extensions.
Over the weekend, work will continue to prepare the remaining desk sets, provision voicemail boxes and ready the system for once again directly receiving calls from off campus in the early part of next week.
In the meantime, the stop-gap measure of directing all calls to just a a couple of extensions remains in place, accepting voicemails through the weekend.

Overnight, OIT staff prepared a collection of hardware for transition from the Potsdam to CRC Campus. A short time ago, that hardware arrived safely in Schenectady. This afternoon, the equipment will be installed so that configuration can begin and proceed through the weekend.

Last evening, the phone switch that services our CRC campus experienced a catastrophic failure impacting all inbound and outbound calls. Our technical staff are working around the clock to expedite a replacement. As a temporary workaround, all inbound calls to 518-631-98xx are being rerouted to a single answering point. Messages will be taken and shared with the intended recipient via email. Outbound calling is inoperable. The life-safety telephone lines (ie. elevator phone and building fire alarm system) are not impacted by this outage.
It is expected that this situation may continue for several days. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to replace the impacted equipment and restore services.
